The City Clerk of the City of Starke (in Florida) is a local government elected official who plays a critical administrative role in the functioning of the city government. 

Records Management:

  • Maintains all official city records, including ordinances, resolutions, minutes of City Commission meetings, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Oversees public records requests in compliance with Florida’s Sunshine Laws.

City Commission Meetings:

  • Prepares agendas and supporting documents for City Commission meetings.
  • Attends all Commission meetings and records official minutes.
  • Publishes legal notices and public meeting schedules as required by law.

Elections:

  • Coordinates with the Bradford County Supervisor of Elections for municipal elections.
  • Ensures proper candidate filing, campaign finance compliance, and ballot preparation for local elections.

Business Licensing:

  • Processes applications and issues local business tax receipts (formerly occupational licenses).
  • Maintains records of businesses operating within the city.

Notary and Official Seal:

  • Serves as a notary public for city documents.
  • Maintains the City Seal and ensures its proper use.

Public Liaison:

  • Responds to inquiries from the public, media, and other government agencies.
  • Provides access to public records and helps residents navigate city services.
