The City of Starke Recreation Department offers a variety of programs throughout the year
Activities may vary as introduced so check this site, the local paper,radio and the office at City Hall, or call 904-964-6792 so as not to miss out on any deadline!
FACILITIES
Reno Center: Located on Pine St.-Includes the center, an outdoor basketball court and playground equipment.
Edwards Road Complex: Located on Edwards Road. Includes two multipurpose softball fields, three youth baseball field, one major baseball field , picnic area, two playgrounds, outdoor basketball courts, two tennis courts, four racquetball courts and a nature trail, pavilions, concession stand, half-pipe for skaters and restrooms.
Wainwright Park: Located on Church Street. Includes two pavilions, restrooms and some playground equipment.
Thomas Street Complex: Located on Thomas St. Includes an adult size baseball/softball field, basketball court, one tennis court, a playground area, a nature trail, a pavilion, two classrooms with restrooms and a concession stand with restrooms facility.
RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS
Summer Day Camp: This camp is held for eight weeks June 14 thru August 6, 2010 - Monday thru Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 6-17. The camp is packed with activities, arts and crafts, weekly field trips, weekly movies(in house & theatre) organized sports and games, weekly academic tutoring daily lunches and character building seminars. The registration fee is $300.00 for city residents and $340.00 for residents outside the city limits. Register now and take advantage of our installment/payment plan.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM
CERAMICS-ADULTS AND KIDS SUSPENDED
This program is conducted at the Old Armory. Classes for adults on Tuesday mornings (9:00-11:30) and Friday nights (6:30-9:00). There is also a Ceramic Program for youths. During the school year, the classes are offered on Wednesday and Friday. (3:45-4:45).
SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB
Club meetings are every Tuesday from 11:00-2:00 at the Thomas St. Complex - 801 E. Thomas Street. Crafts, cards, bingo and luncheons are just a few of the activities.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
This enrichment program is offered during the school year for school age children from kindergarten to eighth grade. Homework assistant , refreshment, table games, movies and various sports. Total capacity is 80 students. This program is a bridge for our Summer Day Camp. Membership Dues $90.00 every nine weeks with a $10.00 annual application fee.

LEAGUE AGES: T-BALL - AGES 4-6
ROOKIES - AGES 7 & 8
MINORS - AGES 9 & 10
MAJORS - AGES 11 & 12
BABE RUTH - AGES 13-15
BABE RUTH - AGES 16-18
SOFTBALL - AGE 6-16
Determining date: (Baseball) How old your child is before April 30, 2010
(Softball) How old your child is before December 31, 2009
*EXCEPTION* YOUR CHILD MAY "PLAY UP" OR "PLAY DOWN", ONLY IF THE COACH, RECREATION DIRECTOR AGREES AND THE PARENT SIGNS A WAIVER.
If your child has never played before and additional $1.25. This card will be filed at the Recreation Dept. Office until you move or your child has completed the Babe Ruth Program (through age 18). we will need a copy of your child's Birth certificate is he/she has never played in the Babe-Ruth League.
Your child may need to purchase a pair of baseball pants and leggings, which can be purchased
locally or out of town. Rubber cleats or tennis shoes may be worn in the T-ball, Rookie,
Minor or Major Leagues. It is suggested that the Babe Ruth League (13-18) players wear rubber or metal cleats.
ALL FORMS, CONSENT AND BIRTH CERTIFICATES (IF NEEDED), MUST BE IN
THE OFFICE BY FEBRUARY 12, 2010.
Note: Starting this 2010 Spring League, parents are required to volunteer to work in the concession stand at least one night (2 to 2 1/2 hours) during the league-home team.
